ARIZONA REC CENTER FOR THE HANDICAPPED — Phoenix, AZ
2005: $17,000
This grant supports the start-up of a golf program for individuals with disabilities. Approximately 160 individuals will be introduced to the game of golf at the recreation center and graduate to play on a local city course. ARCH already offers a wide variety of athletic and social programming for individuals with disabilities.
2006: $12,500
This is a $12,500 one-year, outright grant to support ARCH's Swing Into Golf program for individuals with disabilities of all ages. The program will enter its second year of operation in May and hopes to increase participation to 150.
 
ASSOCIATION OF DISABLED AMERICAN GOLFERS — Englewood, CO
1997: $30,000
General operating support for organization serving as a clearinghouse of information for individuals with disabilities interested in the game of golf.
 
BUDDIE'S BUDDIES — Mission, KS
2008: $5,295
This grant will help fund the purchase of a single rider golf car as well as adaptive golf clubs for Buddie's Veterans Adaptive Golf. All participants will be injured veterans who will use golf as a means of rehabilitation. More than 100 veterans will take part in this 10-week program and special golf events.
 
CITY OF SAN ANTONIO - PARKS AND RECREATION DEPT. — San Antonio, TX
2005: $27,450
This grant supports the BlazeSports golf program, a joint initiative implemented by the Golf Operations Division and the Therapeutic Recreation Section of the City of San Antonio (CSA). This grant will provide funds for adaptive cars and adaptive clubs to be used by the participants in the program both during and outside of programming. CSA will serve approximately 45 individuals from the city, the Brooke Army Medical Center, and the Texas Amputee Golf Association.
 
GET A GRIP — Phoenix, AZ
2000: $25,000
This grant supports the Get a Grip Golf Camp held at Camp Shadow Pines in Arizona. During the week-long camp, individuals with varying disabilities are given the opportunity to learn all facets of the game as well as learn the art of clubmaking. Each day consists of 2-3 hours of instruction and two hours of clubmaking. By the end of the camp, each participant takes their very own golf club, which they helped make, home with them.
2001: $15,000
To help fund the week-long golf camp for 30 individuals where campers will receive 2-3 hours of instruction and 2 hours of clubmaking.
 
GOLF 4 FUN — Denver, CO
1998: $15,000
In support of the purchase of electric mobility carts to be distributed to local courses. This 5-week program is held May-August, which offers group lessons to anyone with a disability in the Denver-metro area.
2005: $25,000
This grant will continue Golf 4 Fun's mission of making the game affordable and accessible for individuals with disabilities. Golf 4 Fun provides programming in four cities throughout Colorado and reaches almost 90 individuals. USGA grant funds will be used towards purchasing single-rider golf carts, which Golf 4 Fun will make available at multiple courses throughout the state. These carts will be available for use at no charge by anyone who has a disability.
2008: $10,000
This grant supports a program which donates single rider golf cars to golf courses in addition to providing golf programs to 90 individuals with disabilities. This grant will fund the purchase of single rider golf cars and instruction.

HOUSTON AREA PARKINSON SOCIETY — Houston, TX
1997: $3,000
Support of twelve instructional clinics for Parkinson's patients.
 
JASPER COUNTY SHELTERED FACILITIES ASSOCIATION — Joplin, MO
2005: $7,750
This grant will support a program for individuals with disabilities in the Joplin, Missouri area. This will be the program's first year, and it plans to introduce 24 individuals to the game. Jasper County Sheltered Facilities Association has been serving individuals with disabilities for more than 25 years.
2006: $7,250
This grant supports Jasper County Sheltered Facilities Association's Caddy Shack Youth Golf Program for individuals with disabilities of all ages, a majority of whom are economically disadvantaged. The program is entering its second year of operation and projects to increase participation by six to 30 total participants.
2007: $8,900
This grant supports Jasper County Sheltered Facilities Association, which operates a spring, summer, and fall golf program for its developmentally disabled clients. Thirty participants are projected to enroll in the free program this year, receiving professional instruction and course access. All participants are disabled, and 80% are projected to come from families making less than $25,000 annually.
 
KIAMICHI OPPORTUNITIES, INC. — Hugo, OK
2007: $7,000
This grant supports Kiamichi Opportunities, Inc. golf program. USGA funds will support instruction, golf course and range access, equipment, and transportation. The program is called Opportuni-TEES and will reach 18 individuals with disabilities.
 
NATIONAL SPORTS CENTER FOR THE DISABLED — Denver, CO
2003: $30,000
This grants supports the start-up of a series of five-day golf programs at a general recreation camp for individuals with disabilities in Empire, CO. This camp will serve as an introduction to the game for its participants, developing interest among the participants to follow through with more intensive programming at locations throughout Colorado.
 
NORTH TEXAS JUNIOR GOLF AND EDUCATION FOUNDATION — Dallas, TX
2005: $7,255
This grant supports a collaborative effort between The First Tee of Dallas (TFTD) and the Deaf Action Center of Dallas in order to provide golf programming to children with hearing disabilities and children of deaf adults. TFTD will conduct two program sessions in 2005 targeted specfically to the deaf community of Dallas. Each session will reach 20 kids.
 
PIKES PEAK GOLF LINKS — Colorado Springs, CO
2008: $30,000
This grant will fund the CSDB golf program, which will serve 30 deaf and blind participants.
 
RECREATION & PARK COMMISSION OF EAST BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge, LA
2004: $50,000
This partial matching grant supports the start-up of the Partner's Golf League, a golf league that teams up individuals with disabilities with able-bodied mentors. This program reaches 280 "teams" of golfers through clinics, league play, and tournament play. USGA funds will cover instruction, therapist, and course access costs for the program.
 
SPECIAL OLYMPICS TEXAS — Austin, TX
2001: $10,000
To help fund the addition of 48 new golfers to the program, which meets over an eight-week period. Athletes are given the opportunity to receive four one-hour lessons from a golf professional, one-on-one instruction from their coaches and three 9-hole rounds of golf.
2003: $6,000
This two-year grant funds instruction, course and range access, and equipment costs for the D.O.G.L.E.G. program. This program will introduce 36 individuals with mental retardation to the game of golf, in hopes that they will continue on in the Special Olympics golf program. Funding will be distributed to 5-8 delegations who will train the participants and enter them into Special Olympics competitions throughout the state of Texas.
 
SUSD - SPECIAL ED. DEPT. — Scottsdale, AZ
2006: $4,650
This grant supports the implementation of a junior golf program for individuals with disabilities through the Scottsdale Unified School District. During the 2006-2007 school year, 52 students in the SUSD Special Education Department will be taught golf as part of their recreational education. USGA funds will be used for instruction and range access.
2007: $11,000
This grant supports Scottsdale Unified School District and its Let's Swing program. This program will provide golf clinics to approximately 90 individuals with a variety of mental, behavioral, or physical disabilities. Specifically, USGA funds will be used to provide instruction, course access and range access.
 
TEXAS SCOTTISH RITE HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN — Dallas, TX
2000: $150,000
This grant supports the hospital's junior golf program over three years. Grant funds are used for First Swing Seminars for golf professionals and allied health professionals to learn how to teach golf to those with disabilities and for Learn To Golf clinics for youths with disabilities. The hospital also customizes specialized adaptive equipment to allow participants to play the game of golf.
2003: $120,000
This three-year grant supports a program serving youth with orthopedic conditions, related neurological disorders, and learning disabilities. The hospital cares for all youth free of charge through funds raised from the local community and outside contributors. The golf program consists of two different types of clinics reaching 100 patient participants. Specialized equipment is provided for participants when necessary. USGA funds will be used to cover instruction, course and range access, equipment, and transportation costs for the next three years.
2006: $80,000
This two-year grant supports the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, which serves youth with orthopedic conditions, related neurological disorders, and learning disabilities by providing care and services free of charge. USGA funds will help the hospital continue and expand its Learn to Golf program, which holds clinics throughout the state of Texas for juniors with disabilities. Specialized equipment is available for participants when needed, and the hospital also covers individual lessons for participants in their hometown. In addition to these clinics, the hospital holds seminars designed to teach instructors how to best provide instruction to individuals with disabilities.
 
THE FIRST TEE OF FORT SMITH, ARKANSAS — Fort Smith, AR
2006: $10,400
This grant will help create a program for individuals with disabilities within The First Tee of Fort Smith's overall program. USGA funds will be used for instrution, adapta-clubs, a static seat, and an automatic ball dispenser. The First Tee of Fort Smith plans to reach 160 individuals with disabilities in the first year of this new program.
2007: $7,500
This grant supports a program for individuals with disabilities operated by The First Tee of Fort Smith. The program will operate golf clinics for nearly 100 adults and youths at its home facility. Additionally, the program will reach nearly 160 youths with disabilities in the community schools in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

This grant supports The First Tee of Tulsa in expanding the number of girls and individuals with disabilities involved in the program. This organization will serve approximately 1,180 youths in the Tulsa area in 2007 and runs year-round golf programming.
 
THE YOUTH FOUNDATION — Edwards, CO
2006: $4,100
This grant supports a golf program for children with disabilities that will be incorporated into overall programming offered by The First Tee of Eagle County (TFTEC). This is TFTEC's first year of operation, and USGA funds will be used for instruction and transportation to integrate three cognitive needs children into the general program.
 
UNITED STATES BLIND GOLF ASSOCIATION — San Antonio, TX
2005: $8,350
This grant supports a program for blind and visually impaired individuals throughout the country. Approximately 250 individuals will take part in the clinics offered by this organization.
2006: $12,400
This grant supports a national program that introduces blind and visually impaired individuals to the game of golf. Clinics and ongoing programs will be held throughout the country. Approximately 300 individuals will take part.
2007: $11,000
This grant supports the organization's clinics, which introduce blind and visually impaired individuals to the game of golf. Clinics and ongoing programs will be held throughout the country. Over 300 individuals are expected to participate.
2008: $6,000
This grant will support programming for nearly 600 blind and vision impaired individuals in 2008. The program will operate ten one-day clinics and three multi-day clinics across the United States.
