The
Ladies Professional Golf Association
(LPGA) is the longest-running
women's sports association in
the world, having celebrated its
50th anniversary in the year 2000.
The organization has grown from
its roots as a playing tour into
a non-profit organization involved
in every facet of golf. The LPGA
Tour and the LPGA Teaching &
Club Professional (T&CP) Division
comprise the backbone of the LPGA.
The LPGA maintains a strong focus
on charity through its work on
grassroots junior golf, donating
money through its charities and
a host of other initiatives. The
LPGA has also become a leader
in the training of instructors
to teach golf to individuals with
disabilities. Currently, woman
working toward getting their T&CP
certification learn how to teach
individuals of all abilities.
The LPGA has helped the Resource
Center in building the Instructors
Database and in devising teaching
manuals that will also be posted
on this site. Representatives
of the LPGA also serve on the
National Alliance for Accessible
Golf’s leadership council.
