The
Professional
Golfers Association
of America (PGA),
started in 1916,
with the general
goal of “promoting
interest
in the game of
golf through
elevating the
standards of
the golf professional’s
vocation.”
Since its
inception,
the PGA has
accomplished
this goal
in a number
of ways,
from hosting
championships
to providing
education to its members. In terms of serving golfers with
disabilities,
the PGA,
along with
the USGA,
was instrumental
in golf being
included in Special Olympics. Additionally,
representatives
of the PGA
serve on the National Alliance for Accessible Golf. The
PGA has helped
the Resource Center in
constructing
the database
of golf
instructors for individuals
with disabilities,
a database
that is found
on this site.
